Workplace Mental Health: The Role of AI Chatbots in Employee Well-Being
Abstract
A healthy employee’s mental health is an extremely important factor that influences workplace efficiency, happiness, and productivity. Although Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and traditional models of mental health initiatives are available to employees, many of them persist in delaying seeking timely and helpful support. AI-enabled chatbots help attend to the need for employee support in a real-time, confidential, and adaptive manner by engaging with them on some form of issues. This research explores this further. A survey-based study was conducted to measure the level of workplace stress along with resources on existing mental health and how willing employees are to use AI-based solutions. The results show that many employees feel stressed, with options for anonymous support, and are willing to be assisted by AI for mental health. Building on these insights, this paper presents MindSync AI, an exciting AI chatbot today with a combination of Emotional Intelligence, Adaptive Learning, and Gamification to improve user engagement and provide personalized support. MindSync AI is unlike the conventional chatbot model, which keeps on improving based on user interactions to provide more effective mental health assistance. The results of the study indicate that AI-based mental health tools provide access to stigma-free, scalable, and accessible mental health solutions that could alter workplace wellbeing. Future research should explore the implementation in the real world and assess long-term effectiveness in other organizations.
